On March 19, the National Library named after Rasul Gamzatov held an expanded meeting of the board of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Dagestan, at which the results of the department’s activities for 2020 were summed up and the tasks of further development of the education system of the republic were determined.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Assembly and the Public Chamber of the Republic of Dagestan, ministers, heads of universities and professional educational organizations of the republic, heads of education departments of municipalities, representatives of public organizations, etc. The Dagestan State Medical University was presented by Vice-Rector for Strategic Development Rumi Atakhanov.

Anatoly Karibov, Acting Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Dagestan, opened the meeting, who noted that the ministry in 2020 ensured the functioning of the industry, preserved and fulfilled all social obligations. A large range of events was implemented within the framework of the National Project “Education” and other programs, despite the fact that restrictions were introduced related to the spread of a new coronavirus infection.

Acting Minister of Education and Science of the RD Ummupazil Omarova delivered a keynote speech, which reported on the measures taken to achieve the targets of the National Project “Education,” increase the availability of preschool education, improve the quality of school education, create modern educational infrastructure in schools, identify and support talented students, modernize the system of additional education of children, etc.

The head of the department separately touched on the issue of providing places in preschool and general education organizations created through the construction of new institutions.

Further, the topics of improving the quality of education and introducing modern technologies into the educational process, organizing the state final certification of school students, and implementing the “Zemsky Teacher” project in the region were discussed.

In  speech, Ummupazil Omarova emphasized the results of the state final certification. In the region, there is a positive dynamics in the results of the exam.

A comparative analysis of high-point work showed that the number of participants who scored 80 or more points in all subjects in 2020 increased by 3% compared to 2019. The number of 100-pointers has increased significantly: there are 56 of them this year, which is 2 times more than their number in 2019 (24 people). At the same time, it was noted that the number of participants who did not overcome the minimum threshold is still considerable: 5687 people in 2019, 5514 children in 2020.

The report also spoke about the organization of work with talented youth, about the transformation of the system of secondary vocational education. For three years in a row, the republic has the winners of the federal stage of the All-Russian Olympiad of school students and does not lower this bar. The number of winners of prestigious All-Russian Olympiads, competitions and scientific and social programs, such as “Step into the Future,” “Phystech,” “Without a statute of limitations,” “Abilympics,” “Young Professionals,” “IT-Fest,” the international Caucasian Olympiad in mathematics and the All-Russian project “Big Change” is growing.

Head of Derbent Education Department Chimnaz Aliyeva, Rector of DSUNE Yahya Buchaeva, Director of Caspian Gymnasium No. 11 Zhanna Tagirova spoke at the board meeting. In addition, the report of the chief freelance psychologist of the republic, Aida Mutalimova, was heard.

Summing up the meeting, Anatoly Shamsutdinovich noted the importance of the issues raised on the work of school psychologists and the preservation of the health of all participants in the educational process.

“The coronavirus situation is gradually stabilizing, timely vaccination is contributing to this. A sufficient number of points have been established in the Republic, where every resident of the Republic can be offered free of charge vaccination. We need to develop herd immunity, then the disease will recede completely, “said A. Karibov.

The Board of the Ministry of Education and Science of the RD unanimously adopted the Public Declaration of Goals and Objectives for 2021.
