Joint meeting of the Student Scientific Circle of the Department of Foreign and Latin Languages “MedLingua” and the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases

Dagestan State Medical University hosted a joint meeting of the student scientific circle of the Department of Foreign and Latin Languages “MedLingua” and the student scientific circle of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases on December 23, 2022.

The meeting was opened by the head of the Department of Foreign and Latin Languages Raisa Abdulkhalimovna. In her address, she stressed the great importance of knowledge of English and Latin languages in the study of internal diseases. The head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases, Professor Dair Shikhnebiev noted the high role of the work of student scientific circles in the training of future doctors.

The meeting was attended by: Scientific director of the English language section of the SSC “MedLingua” Angela Azizkhanova; Scientific Director of the Latin Language Section of the SSC “MedLingua” Patimat Ramazanova; scientific director of  SSC of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases Zakarya Shamov.

The first report on the topic “Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum” was presented in Russian and English by 4th year students of the medical faculty Perziyat Gadzhikhanova and Patimat Magomedova.

Further, a 5th-year student Faculty of Medicine Lloyd and a 4th-year student of the Faculty of Medicine Salman Davydov also made bilingual presentations on the topic  “Cholecystitis”.

The report on the Latin language entitled “Lexical aspects of eponymic terms in the field of internal diseases” was prepared by the head of the SSS “MedLingua”, a 6th-year student Surkhay Khamaev.

The meeting ended with tasks in a game format, where foreign students acted as patients speaking only English. The task of the circle members was to collect their anamnesis for a preliminary diagnosis.
