A student of DSMU became a laureate of the II interdisciplinary forum “Young Medicine”

On December 7, 2022, an interdisciplinary forum “Young Medicine” was held as part of the Russian Health Week. It was organized by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, International Foundation for the Development of Biomedical Technologies named after V. P. Filatov, Expocentre JSC with scientific support from the First Moscow State Medical University named after  I.M. Sechenov and University Clinic named after  Moscow State University .

The purpose of the Forum is to support Russian scientifically gifted young people trying their hand at scientific research in various fields of medicine and pharmacy, to involve them in finding answers to solving global scientific problems, to expand young people’s understanding of science and medicine as an important resource of Russian society, to strengthen educational and scientific ties between generations of scientists within the framework of individual scientific directions and interdisciplinary cooperation. The Forum’s discussions were devoted to topical and promising areas, such as the development of medical science, digital solutions in medicine, and medical biotechnologies.

During the opening ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Galina Karelova addressed the participants of the Forum with a welcoming speech. The speech was read by Inna Svyatenko, Chairman of the Committee on Social Policy of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation: “One of the goals of the Forum is to attract talented young people to the field of medical research and technology. The Federation Council pays special attention to this topic, actively cooperates with the professional community and public organizations. We support the introduction of new programs, projects in the field of medical technologies and telemedicine.”

With the support of Sechenov University and Moscow State University, a round table “Young Science – to the regions of Russia” was organized, at which participants discussed modern problems of medical science. Main speakers: Inna Svyatenko – Head of the Committee on Social Policy of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; the director of the Research Institute of the Organization of Healthcare and Medical Management Elena Aksenova  , the General director of the Association of Organizations of the Military–Industrial Complex–Manufacturers of Medical Devices and Equipment Alexander Smirnov, the head of the Scientific Department of Biotechnology and Transfusiology of  Research Institute of Joint Venture named after N.V. Sklifosovsky Natalia Borovkova.

5 best projects were announced at the round table, including 2 from Dagestan  State Medical University, presented by 4th year students of the Faculty of Medicine Aida Yuzbekova and Ravza Kurbanova. Experts and young scientists focus on the future of biomedical technologies in the healthcare system, the possibilities of modern medical practice and new trends in medicine.

The culmination of the interdisciplinary forum was the awarding ceremony of the winners of the Young Medicine competition in 5 areas. A total of 176 works were submitted to the competition, 6 of which were submitted by DSMU. In the nomination “Breakthrough ideas in the development of medical science and clinical practice in the solutions of young scientists and project teams”, a 4th–year student of the Medical Faculty of Dagestan State Medical University Ravza Kurbanova was determined the winner with the project “Development of innovative medical contact lenses with nanocoating” (scientific supervisors – Rahimov R.M., Ismailov M. I., Abdullaeva N. M.). The prize fund is 100,000 rubles.
