The All-Russian action “Library night-2021” is one of the most significant events in the cultural life of the country.

Every year, libraries from all over the country take part in this large-scale project. This year, the campaign was held under the slogan “The Book is the Way to the stars” and was dedicated to science, technology and the 60th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s space flight.

The DSMU Scientific Library has joined the traditional All-Russian action “Library night”. On April 24, the library staff together with the Youth Committee held cultural and educational events.

The guests of the event were: Vice-Rector for Public Relations and Social and Educational Work of DSMU Elmira Abieva, Head of the General Department of Physics of DSMU Magomedbag Huseykhanov, Head of the Department of Intellectual Property and Scientific and Medical Information of DSMU Eimisey Huseynova, Director of the Scientific Library of DSMU Venera Musayeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Biophysics, Informatics and Medical hardware of the DSMU Marat Huseynov.

Elmira Abieva addressed the guests and participants of the action with a welcoming speech. “The event “Library night” is held at our university for the 10th time and has already become a good tradition. This action is a great event for the entire reading community, and I am glad that our students are preparing and taking an active part in the action from year to year,” she said.

After the welcoming speech, poems about space were performed in Russian and English by foreign students of DSMU.

“We live in nature, where the laws of physics operate and our task is to study them to facilitate life and the development of society. New technologies have become available thanks to space flights, and we are waiting for innovative projects, new methods of treatment from you, and books will help you in this – an asset that will multiply with your help, ” Marat Huseynov said, and showed the participants new equipment and experimentally proved Newton’s second law.

In the second part of the event, a brain-ring on the theme of space was held in the electronic reading room of the Scientific Library, according to the results of which the team “The Disgusting Six” took the 1st place, the second place was taken by the team “Kombucha” and the team “6 Horsemen of the Apocalypse” closed the top three. The students also discussed the works of Soviet writers, classics of modern science and social fiction Arkady and Boris Strugatsky at a round table.

At the entrance to the library there is a “Bookcrossing”, which means a book exchange, the main purpose of which is to exchange books. Anyone could take a book they liked and leave their own in return. The main goal of the campaign is to turn the planet into a huge library!

The exhibition “Book Universe”, prepared by the head of the Department of Fiction Zhariyat Aliyeva, was placed in the reading room of scientific literature.

The All-Russian action Library night has become a wonderful spring tradition for the entire reading community of our country. Each year, it is dedicated to a new topic, which allows libraries to develop unique events, create new content, and surprise their visitors again and again. This year’s Library night is special and unique. Library night went into space!
