Dagestan State Medical University hosted the III International Congress of the NCFD on plastic, reconstructive surgery and aesthetic medicine “From the Gray Caspian Sea to the foothills of the Greater Caucasus”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the university.

The Congress was one of the most important events of the international level of the professional community. The event was held with the support of the Government of the Republic of Dagestan, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Dagestan, Russian Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic, Russian scientific research medical university named after  N.I.Pirogov, Institute of Plastic Surgery and Cosmetology.

The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Government of  Dagestan  Republic  Murad Kaziyev, Acting Rector of  Dagestan State Medical University Visampasha Khanaliev, Minister of Health of the Republic of  Dagestan Tatyana Belyaeva, Chief freelance specialist plastic Surgeon of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Natalia Manturova, Chief Plastic Surgeon of the UAE Zuhair Al Fardan, leading experts in the field of plastic surgery and related fields of medicine, doctors and candidates of medical sciences, professors of medical universities  of Moscow and Dagestan and others.

The congress was opened by V. Khanaliev, who welcomed the guests and participants of the event. “Today’s congress is timed to the 90th anniversary of the university. A lot has changed during this time, but one thing remains unchanged: we still cherish the glorious traditions of  Dagestan Scientific Medical School, we remember the people who invested their soul, energy and talent in the formation and development of the medical university and Russian healthcare in general. The anniversary itself is a vivid evidence of a sincere and deeply mutual desire to develop medicine.

There are a lot of reasons for meetings every time, important issues constantly appear, which we are always happy to discuss within the framework of the Congress. Today, plastic surgery has become a serious specialty and is spreading its influence to other areas. Of course, we welcome and support this. This congress will bring together many doctors, scientists and like–minded people who are ready to share their experience, new methods and approaches in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery,” he said.

Murad Kaziyev greeted those present on behalf of the leadership of the republic. He expressed confidence that the work of the congress will be successful and fruitful and will contribute to the professional development of our specialists and the mutual exchange of experience. “Plastic surgery often solves quite complex problems, complications after injuries and various diseases, improves the quality of life of patients. Today’s congress with international participation, we have quite serious speakers today who have vast experience and are ready to share it,” M. Kaziyev said.

Participants and guests of the event were greeted by Tatiana Belyaeva. She noted that today plastic surgery can change the lives of people with congenital malformations acquired as a result of injuries, which psychologically affect patients. “Today, doctors can restore not only the functions of these tissues and organs, but also beauty. And this is very important. You do not just make beauty, but bring back to people the joy of a healthy life,” she said.

Natalia Manturova thanked the organizers of the congress in her speech, noted the high level of organization of the event and the rich scientific program. She told about the history of the specialty, the scientific and organizational work being done and much more.

Welcoming remarks were also made by Zuhair Al Fardan, plastic surgeon of Kuwait Abdul Reda Lari, Assistant for International Relations of the Chief Freelance Specialist of Plastic Surgeon of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, President of the Russian Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (RSPRE) Ahmed Rakhimov.

The initiator and active organizer of the Congress dedicated to the native university was Kurbanova Zarema Vakhaevna, MD, Professor of the Department of Faculty Surgery No. 2. Zarema Kurbanova. She is a surgeon of the highest category, Honored Doctor of the Republic of Dagestan, Chief expert of the Ministry of Health of  Dagestan Republic  and the NCFD in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, a full member of the Russian Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (RSPRAS) and the Russian Society of Surgeons. She noted that the Congress held for the third time in Makhachkala and  it gains popularity among the professional audience, which is largely due to both the level of the scientific program and the attention from the professional community under the leadership of N. Manturova and the level of development of the healthcare system and medical education in Dagestan.

During the event, the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between  RSPRAS and the societies of plastic surgeons of the UAE and Kuwait took place. This is a landmark event for the North Caucasus, which has established cooperation between professional communities in Europe and Asia.

Then a plenary session was held (the Profile Commission on the specialty “Plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery”), during which the chief freelance specialists plastic surgeons of the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District spoke.

More than 200 plastic reconstructive surgeons and doctors of related specialties took part in the Congress for two days. Among them were well-known academicians, professors, doctors and candidates of medical sciences, specialists of the highest qualification category, clinical residents and graduate students. 53 speakers made presentations, 68 reports were heard, including online broadcasts, both in Russia and in other countries.

The event included 11 sessions on plastic reconstructive surgery faces and bodies. There was an exhibition of medical companies and centers of the North Caucasus. On the basis of public and private clinics, 8 demonstration operations are shown.

At the end of the Congress, excursions to the cultural attractions of Dagestan were held for the guests of the event.

Further, the work of the congress was continued by the session “Plastic surgery of the face”. Tomorrow, August 20, the session “Plastic surgery of the body and related specialties” will be held.

During the congress, demonstration operations are carried out with broadcast from the operating rooms of the ROC of the Ministry of Health of the RD, MC “EOS” and MC “Healer”.
