The event dedicated to the Victory Day was held at DSMU

The Scientific Library of Dagestan State Medical University hosted a memorial evening entitled “Memory of the Fiery Years!” dedicated to the celebration of the 77th anniversary of the Victory Day of the Soviet People in the Great Patriotic War. The event was opened by the director of the Scientific Library Venera Musaeva: “Victory Day is a holiday that unites all Russians. He is equally dear to both the youth and the older generation. This significant event helps us to feel like a united people, despite different nationalities, political and life beliefs and social status. On May 9 our memory is stricter than ever. After all, the most important thing we can do for the soldiers who saved the world is to remember and honor their immortal feat.” Those present honored the memory of the fallen heroes with a minute of silence.

Acting Vice-Rector for Public Relations and Educational Work Elmira Abieva addressed the guests and students with a welcoming speech on behalf of Acting Rector Visampasha Khanalieva: “Victory Day was and remains a sacred day for all the people of our country. Respect for our history is our present and future. Knowledge of history is more relevant and important today than ever.”

Further, the guests of the event, among whom were the knight of the golden star “People’s Hero of the Caucasus”, participant of the war and three combat operations in Afghanistan Abdula Fataliev and Colonel, member of the Presidium of the Council of Veterans of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of   Dagestan Republic, participant of military operations, veteran of  Special Rapid Response Department  Nariman Abdulmagomedov shared with the students memories of their combat past, they talked about their professional path, noted the importance of preserving the historical truth about the greatest event of the XX century: “We remember what a high price the Victory was achieved and you and I must not forget the lessons of that terrible war.”

Students of the 1st and 2nd year of the medical faculty listened with interest to veterans, asked questions and took an active part in the event, reading poems about the war.

The staff of the Department of Fiction and Scientific Literature also prepared a book exhibition of the same name “Memory of the Fiery Years”, where memoirs, artistic-documentary and poetic works about the war were presented.
