Head of the department, Ataev Alevdin Rashitkhanovich – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS SBEI HVE DSMU of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. Chief external traumatologist-orthopedist of the Ministry of Health of the RD.

Trauma orthopaedist of the highest qualification category. His clinical work service had begun from 1981, teaching service had started from 1989.

He graduated from the faculty of General Medicine of the Dagestan State Medical Institute in 1981. He was sent to Belgorod region. He underwent an internship at the Belgorod Regional Hospital and from 1982 he worked as a surgeon, in 1983 he majored in traumatology at the Kharkov Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics, and from 1983 to 1989 he was in charge of the surgical department of the October District Hospital of Belgorod Oblast. From 1989 to 1992 he was an assistant of the Department of Operational Surgery and Topographic anatomy, General Surgery of the Kursk State Medical Institute. He defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic: “Complex treatment of ping-inflammatory diseases of the fingers and hands” in 1992.

He has been working at the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS of the Dagestan State Medical Academy from 1993 to the present, initially as an assistant, and since 1999, he has been an assistant professor of the department. He defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: “Pathogenetic approaches to the complex treatment of purulent-inflammatory diseases of soft tissues and limb gunshot wounds” in 2002. He was elected head of the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS in 2013.

He was on a business trip abroad through Zdravexport of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Yemen from 2002 to 2007 and from 2009 to 2011, worked as a consultant in orthopedics and traumatology at the Republican Clinical Hospital, Sanaa. Medical and practical activities included consulting reception and carrying out surgical interventions both in urgent and routinely admitted. As well as providing practical assistance to local doctors in carrying out complex surgical interventions. He gave lectures on traumatology and orthopedics to students of the university’s medical faculty and hospital doctors in English. Being a member of the Society of Traumatologists-Orthopedists, the Republic of Yemen, he made presentations at the society and scientific and practical conferences of traumatologists-orthopedists. He speaks Arabic and English. He passed the specialization in endoprosthetics of large joints on the base of the R. R. Vreden RRITO in 2011.

 He is a member of the DSMU Scientific Board and an editorial board member of the peer-reviewed HAC scientific and practical journals “Modern Medicine” and “Modern Science.” Series: Natural and Technical Sciences.” Orthopaedics Association Member of the traumatologists of the Russian Federation.

 Main research areas: hand surgery, optimization of osteosynthesis in case of gunshot and neognestrel fractures of the extremities, correction of post-traumatic disorders of bone regeneration. Under his supervision, 4 dissertation works are carried out.

He is the author of more than 300 publications, 10 patents, 2 monographs.

 

 Mehtikhanov Dalgat Jamaldinovich – Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor. Trauma orthopedist of the highest qualification category.

He graduated from the medical faculty of the Dagestan State Medical Institute (DSMI) in 1954. He worked as a surgeon in the Sergokalinsky district of the Dagestan ASSR from 1954 to 1958. He completed a clinical residency at the Saratov Research Institute (SarRITO) in 1958-60. He had been working as an orthopedic traumatologist in medical institutions of Makhachkala from 1961 to 1964 (he was the head of the city department of traumatology and orthopedics). He completed postgraduate studies at the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS of the 2nd Moscow Medical Institute from 1964 to 1967. He defended his PhD thesis on the topic: “Features of hemodynamic disorders in patients with severe limb injuries in a state of shock and their treatment” in 1968.  He worked as an assistant at the Department of Hospital Surgery of the DSMI since 1967 and since 1968 at the newly formed Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS. He was elected associate professor of the department in 1973. He was the chief external traumatologist of the Ministry of Health of Dagestan from 1984 to 1988. He was the chairman of the Scientific and Medical Society of Traumatologists and Orthopedists of the Republic of Dagestan for 20 years since 1984.

The topic of the study: Patients rehabilitation issues with the injuries consequences of the musculoskeletal system, arthrosis of large joints.

Associate Professor Mehtikhanov Dalgat Jamaldinovich was awarded the honorary title “Honored Doctor of the Republic of Dagestan” for merits in the field of healthcare and many years of conscientious work, the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Dagestan by decree of June 24, 1993.

  1. D. Mekhtikhanov was awarded the medals “Veteran of Labor”,”For Labor Valor” named after Peter the Great,”For Services to the Dagestan State Medical Academy”, “For Services to Healthcare of the Republic of Dagestan”.

He is the author of more than 116 scientific papers, 3 inventions and 27 proposals.

 

Kallaev Nazhmudin Omarkadievich – MD, Professor of the Department. Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation. Excellent student of healthcare of the Russian Federation. Member of the European Orthopedic Research Association (EOQS). Orthopedic traumatologist of the highest qualification category. 

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Dagestan State Medical Institute (DSMI) in 1970. He worked as an orthopedic traumatologist in medical institutions of the Ulyanovsk region (doctor, head of the traumatology department, deputy chief physician, President of the Association of Orthopedic Traumatologists of the Ulyanovsk Region) from 1970 to 2005. He defended his PhD thesis on the topic: “Complex treatment of infected injuries of the ankle joint and foot”, CITO (Moscow) in 1983. He defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: “Compression osteosynthesis of near-and intra-articular fractures of long bones” in 2000. He was the deputy chief physician of the Republican Orthopedic and Traumatology Center (Makhachkala) from 2005 to 2014. Author of more than 280 scientific papers published in domestic and foreign publications, as well as 3 monographs, textbooks, inventions, patents and innovation proposals. He has repeatedly passed specialization and improvement in leading research institutes in Russia and abroad (Switzerland). Scientific supervisor of 4 protected graduate students. Main research areas: surgery of near-and intra-articular injuries, anatomical, surgical and biochemical features of fractures and osteosynthesis, the problem of post-traumatic wound infection.

 

 Ogurliev Alim Pakhrudinovich – Assistant.

He graduated from the medical faculty of the Dagestan State Medical Institute (DSMI) in 1995. He was trained in a clinical residency in traumatology and orthopedics at the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS of the Dagestan State Medical Academy (DSMA) from 1996 to 1998. He has been a senior laboratory assistant at the same department and a part-time assistant since 1999. He has been employed as an assistant at the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS of the DSMA since 2003. He is the author of more than 60 printed works, 2 methodological manuals and 4 inventions.

The topic of the study: “Analysis of the causes and dynamics of mortality from injuries of the able-bodied population of the Republic of Dagestan”.

 

Osmanov Rasim Telmanovich – Assistant.

An orthopaedic surgeon of the highest qualification category. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Dagestan State Medical Institute in 1990. He was trained in clinical residency at the Department of Traumatology, Orthopaedics and MFS of the Dagestan State Medical Academy (DSMA) from 1990 to 1992. He has been the orthopaedic traumatologist of the Republican Orthopaedic Trauma Center (Makhachkala) since 1992. He has been an assistant to the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS DSMA since 2002.

The topic of the study: “Treatment of heel bone fractures.” Author of 20 scientific papers, 1 methodical manual, 4 inventions.

 

Magomedov Shamil Magomedovich – Assistant.

He graduated from a special class with a medical and biological bias at the Dagestan State Medical Academy (DSMA) in 1994. He graduated with honors from the medical faculty of the DSMA in 2000. He was trained in a clinical residency at the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the ATF Faculty of the DSMA from 2000 to 2002. He studied in full-time postgraduate studies at the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS of the DSMA from 2002 to 2005, on the base of the Republican Orthopedic and Traumatology Center (ROTC). He has been a senior laboratory assistant since 2005, and since 2010 an assistant of the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS of the DSMA. He passed professional retraining at the Department of radiation diagnostics and radiation therapy with the improvement of doctors of the DSMU under the program “Radiology” with the qualification of a radiologists in 2016, in the same year he passed advanced training at the PI FVE “EP” in Moscow under the program “Magnetic resonance imaging for doctors” and an internship at the medical diagnostic center of JSC RPC “EP” with the final work on the topic “MRI in the diagnosis of knee injuries”. He is a radiologist-MRI doctor of the Republican Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics named after N. Ts. Tsakhaev.

The topic of the study: “Complex treatment of fractures of long tubular bones in iodine deficiency diseases”.

He is the author of more than 50 scientific papers and 3 inventions.

 

 Magaramov Abdullah Magaramov – assistant of the department, head of the training department.

Head of the student research and practical circle.

He graduated from the medical faculty of the Dagestan State Medical Academy in 2014. He was trained in a clinical residency in traumatology and orthopedics at the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Military Field Surgery of the Dagestan State Medical University from 2014 to 2016. He combined his studies with the work of a junior laboratory assistant at the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS from 2014 to 2016. He worked as a senior laboratory assistant and a part-time assistant from 2016 to 2018. He was hired as an assistant at the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS in 2018. He has been a part-time postgraduate student of the same department since 2018. Author of 2 inventions, 24 publications, including journals reviewed by the Higher Attestation Commission. He combines medical work at the National Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics named after N. Ts. Tsakhaev with his studies, and works as a traumatologist-orthopedist.

The winner of the IV Republican Youth Innovation Convention, was awarded a diploma of the II degree in the nomination “Best innovative Project” for the development of a “Device for wire fixation”.

He was awarded an honorary diploma by the XVI Moscow International Salon of Inventions and Innovative Technologies “Archimedes” for the development of “Devices for osteosynthesis”.

He is a participant of all-Russian conferences with international participation.

The topic of the study: “Complex treatment of post-traumatic disorders of bone regeneration in fractures of the lower leg bones against the background of regional osteoporosis”. He is also actively engaged in public activities, is the head of the volunteer corps “Medical Volunteers” on the basis of the Republican Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics named after N. Ts. Tsakhaev, head of the regional branch of the International Movement for Support of Children and Youth in the Republic of Dagestan.

 

Mirzoyev Nazim Emirovich — Assistant of the Department, Candidate of Medical Sciences.

He graduated from the Dagestan State Medical Institute in 1989. Internship in the period of 1989-1991 was held on the basis of the department hospital of the Petropavlovsk station of the South Ural Railway Hospital. Clinical residency in traumatology and orthopedics of RusRITO named after R. R. Vreden in 1991-1994. During this period, he studied in the emergency department, the department of spine surgery, endoprosthetics of large joints, purulent surgery, pathology of adolescence, the department of multiple and combined trauma. He worked as a traumatologist-orthopedist at the reception department of the R. R. Vreden RusRITO in 1996-1997. The candidate’s dissertation on the topic “Restoration of the lower limb supportability in the case of defects of the proximal femur in the conditions of wound infection” was completed and successfully defended in 2002. He worked in the Department of Purulent surgery No. 4 of the R. R. Vreden RRITO from 1994 to 2017. He has been working as an assistant at the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS since 2018, combining his clinical work at the N. Ts Tsakhaev Republican Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics.

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF TRAUMATOLOGY, ORTHOPEDICS AND MILITARY FIELD SURGERY.

 The training of medical personnel in surgery for medical institutions of the republic became possible thanks to the organization of the Dagestan Medical Institute, its clinical surgical departments, functioning since 1934. Students received surgical knowledge on injuries, fractures, dislocations, burns, etc. at the departments of general, faculty and hospital surgery.

 The first city clinical hospital served as the base of the Department of Hospital Surgery, which was headed by Professor Mikhail Timofeevich Nagorny. Traumatology with orthopedics and military field surgery were taught to students by associate Professors Yu. M. Ditman and Associate Professor M. S. Yanikian. Treatment of patients with injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system was also carried out in the surgical department of the 2nd city clinical hospital. The head of the department was an orthopedic traumatologist, who graduated from the clinical residency at the Saratov Research Institute, M. G. Askinazi. On the basis of this surgical department, the Department of General Surgery functioned, which was headed by a well-known scientist surgeon who has a good training in orthopedics and traumatology, associate professor Nabi Tsakhaevich Tsakhaev. In connection with the growth and opening of new faculties at the Dagestan Medical Institute, in 1968, by order of the Minister of Health of the RSFSR, the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS was opened. Nabi Tsakhaevich Tsakhaev, Doctor of Medical Sciences, was elected head of the department. Associate professors Yu.M.Ditman, M. S. Yanikian, assistant Candidate of Medical Sciences, D. D. developed their professional activities at the department. Mehtikhanov. The basis of the department was the 60-bed orthopedic and traumatology department of the Republican Clinical Hospital (head-M. A. Shamilov).

Nabi Tsakhaev Tsakhaevich is a graduate of the Dagestan State Medical Institute. In 1955, he completed postgraduate studies at the Leningrad Institute of Orthopedics and Prosthetics. His PhD dissertation was devoted to bone-plastic amputations, and his doctoral dissertation was devoted to the pathogenesis of chest deformity in children. N. Ts Tsakhaev was a highly qualified specialist who thinks modernly and has excellent practical skills. Honored Scientist of the DASSR, Professor N. Ts. Tsakhaev was the author of more than 100 scientific papers devoted to topical issues of orthopedics, traumatology, purulent surgery. Under his leadership, 2 doctoral and 9 candidate dissertations were completed.

Such talented specialists as M. M. Omarov, M. P. L. Tagabov, B. Sh.Baturov, Yu. M.Magomedov, N. A. Aliyev, M. A. Suleymanov, M. A. Alimirzaev, M. D. Hajiyev, M. R. Rasulov and many others decided to sow this program. Trauma departments with 60 beds were quickly opened in the cities of Zhadurt, Derbant, and 40 beds in Buinakka, Kizilyurt, and Kaspiyka. To open the first children’s orthopedic and traumatology department for 60 beds in the republic (the next one is M. M. Omarov). From 1985 to 1987, Associate Professor D. D. Mehtikhanov was an Acting Head of the department. In 1987 Umula Akhmetovich, Doctor of Medical Sciences, senior researcher of the Leningrad Orthopedic Institute, who was the head of the department until 1991, was deprived of the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS, currently he is the head of the meditation faculty of ChSU Grozny. During that period, the department employed following workers: Mehtikhanov D. D., assistant, Candidate of Medical Sciences Gadzhiev M. R. G, Shamilov K. A., Izilov A.M. Mirzoev E. C., Mgdiev D. A., GG Omarov, H. Sh. Magomedov.

Magaramov Magaram Abdullayevich– he was the head of the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS from 1991 to 2013, a graduate of the DMI, Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor. He graduated with honors from the Dagestan State Medical Institute (DSMI) in 1972. He worked as a neurosurgeon at the Republican Clinical Hospital. He studied at the target postgraduate school in the 2nd MOLSMI named after N. I. Pirogov (Moscow) from 1976 to 1979. He defended his PhD thesis on the topic: “Incorrectly fused and incorrectly fused fractures of the forearm bones in children” in 1979. He defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: “Treatment of complex fractures in the distal metaepiphysis of the humerus” in 1990. Professor M. A. Magaramov worked on the development of methods for the early diagnosis and treatment of arthrosis of joints, methods of biostimulation, filling of bone defects and the method of electrostimulation with delayed consolidation of fractures and false joints. He was the author of more than 200 scientific papers, 14 methodological manuals, 24 inventions and 30 rational proposals.

Currently, he is an associate professor of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the ATF and ATS of the Dagestan State Medical Academy. Rajabov Arsen Abdulmazhitovich-Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department, worked at the Medical Academy from 2003 to 2012.

Research activity

Research activity is a priority direction of the department. The doctoral dissertations were defended by Gadzhiev M. G., Magdiev D. A., Ataev A. R., candidate’s dissertation by Ganiev M. H. Assistants Ogurliev A. P., Magomedov Sh. M., Khalilulin R. I., Osmanov R. T. Successfully work on candidate’s dissertations: 1). Diagnosis and treatment of osteoarthritis of large joints; 2). Study of pharmacological and invasive methods of stimulating osteoreparation in post-traumatic disorders of bone tissue regeneration; 3). Improvement of methods of diagnosis and treatment of combined injuries; 4). Development of effective methods for the diagnosis and treatment of combined injuries; 5). Development of methods of minimally invasive osteosynthesis. The staff of the department actively participates in the work of international and regional scientific and practical conferences. Publication of scientific articles in journals reviewed by the Higher Attestation Commission, annually at least 6-8 articles. Registration of applications for inventions, utility models and rational proposals, their implementation in practical healthcare.

Every year, the teaching staff of the department, together with practical healthcare, holds All-Russian scientific and practical conferences dedicated to topical issues of traumatology and orthopedics with accreditation according to the CME system. Professors-speakers from leading research institutes and medical universities of Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as neighboring countries are invited. In 2018, a scientific and practical conference was held dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and MFS of DSMU.
