On Wednesday, December 8, a training lecture on financial literacy organized by the Youth Affairs Committee was held in the conference hall of the Dean’s Office of Dagestan State Medical University.

Financial literacy is a combination of awareness, knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors related to finance and necessary for making reasonable financial decisions, as well as achieving personal financial well-being; a set of human competencies that form the basis for reasonable financial decision-making. It is believed that the development of financial literacy makes it possible to maintain and improve financial well-being. The level of financial literacy is generally insufficient, and within certain social groups (women, the elderly and people with a low level of education) this problem is particularly acute. An additional risk factor is the general complication of financial relations, an increase in the responsibility shifted by the state to citizens regarding the choice of pension provision, methods of obtaining borrowed funds. As part of their everyday activities, people experimentally develop optimal algorithms of actions. But important events (such as taking a mortgage, getting an education, forming long-term investments) rarely occur and therefore a person’s own experience is often absent. It is here that the importance of specific financial knowledge obtained from the outside is manifested.

That’s why this topic is so important and of great interest. The students were very grateful for the opportunity to improve their knowledge in the field of economics, which, undoubtedly, are very necessary for any type of activity, and did not miss the chance to take advantage of it. The speaker was an investment specialist with experience in international companies Shamil Rasulov, who revealed the topic in great detail and clearly to his listeners. The students noted that after such an interesting report they became seriously interested in the economy.

During the training, the following issues were highlighted: personal finance management skills, development of a reliable step-by-step strategy for achieving your goals and optimal use of monetary resources. The students did not remain indifferent and actively asked questions.

Acting Vice-Rector for Public Relations and Social and Educational Work Elmira Abieva and her assistant Bilal Pirmagomedov supported the initiative of university activists  attended the event and welcomed the audience.

Those present were impressed by the lecture, noted the informative nature and accessibility of the material presented and cordially thanked Yasulov Shamil.
