   Within the framework of the VI Sechenov International Biomedical Summit a meeting of the Russian-Chinese Association of Medical Universities (RCAMU) “Digital Medicine – Paradigm shift” was held at Sechenov University Congress Center in Moscow on November 8, 2022. The issue of meeting was technological sovereignty. The Association which emerged in 2014 has about 140 universities of the Russian Federation and China.

  Rectors of medical and pharmaceutical universities of Russia, representatives of Chinese medical universities took part in the meeting of the Permanent Council of the RCAMU. Dagestan State Medical University also took part in the meeting under the leadership of Acting Rector Visampasha Khanaliev in videoconference mode.

   The participants were welcomed by the Co–Chairs of the Association – Rector of Sechenov University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Peter Glybochko and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Sciences (CAES) Yang Baofeng. “Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of medicine has reached a new level,” said Yang Baofeng, who devoted his report to the promotion of Chinese folk medicine at the present stage.

  According to Director of the Department of Medical Education and Personnel Policy in Healthcare of the Ministry of Health of Russia Lyudmila Letnikova more than 450 Chinese citizens are currently studying at 15 medical universities. The rector of Harbin Medical University, academician CAES Zhang Xue mentioned Chinese scholarships for six Russian students.

  Vice-Rector for Educational Work at Sechenov University, Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences Tatiana Litvinova  reported on the digitalization of medical education. The goals were stated as: 1) formation of a portfolio of supra-professional skills; 2) development of a mentoring system (teachers are called “curators of knowledge”); 3) building an individual educational trajectory; 4) increasing the volume of online educational resources and flexible (adaptive) training.

  Vice-presidents of two Chinese universities (Zhu Yizhun from Macau University of Science and Technology and Ye Wencai from Jinan University) spoke about information technologies for the search for new medicines, including those based on artificial intelligence.

 Rector of Siberian State Medical University Evgeny Kulikov, Rector of Kuban State Medical University Sergey Alekseenko and Rector of Saratov State Medical University named after V.I. Razumovsky  Andrey Eremin shared their universities’ experience in processing medical data, using telemedicine technologies (more than 2 thousand telemedicine consultations are held annually at the university clinic in Krasnodar) and the development of a biomedical cluster.

 Summing up the meeting, Academician P. Glybochko stressed the importance of joint scientific research and exchange of students, postgraduates and young specialists between the two countries.

 The two–day summit program includes breakout sessions on digital medicine, biodesign, digital technologies in healthcare, oncology, pathomorphology, medical mass spectrometry and new materials, the Second Russian-Chinese Symposium “The Future of Orthopedics: Nanotechnology and Artificial Intelligence”, schools on bioinformatics and digital cardiology, etc. One of the sections was dedicated to advanced engineering schools. Sechenov University will begin training in the specialty “medical engineer”  from  the first of September, 2023.
