Activists of the Volunteer Center held an action “Hero’s Day” dedicated to the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland

As part of the action “Hero’s Day”, timed to the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland, activists of the Volunteer Center of Dagestan State Medical University held a number of class hours in “Gymnasium No. 17”, “Secondary School No. 36” and “Lyceum No. 22”.

During the action, volunteers told schoolchildren about the doctors-heroes of the Great Patriotic War, thanks to whom thousands of soldiers remained alive, returned to service and defeated the German invaders.

“Along with the immortal exploits  tankmen and pilots in the Great Patriotic War, it is impossible not to note the heroism and bravery of Soviet doctors. Many of them fought on the front line and laid down their heads for the liberation of their homeland.

During the Great Patriotic War, more than 200 thousand doctors and about 500 thousand medical workers worked as part of the military medical service. Among the military doctors there were more than 300 academicians, honored scientists and professors, about three thousand doctors and candidates of sciences who were directly involved in the medical support of the active army.

Many examples of genuine heroism, fearlessness, and self-sacrifice were shown by medical workers in incredibly difficult circumstances. In any conditions, they did everything possible and often impossible to save lives and return the wounded to service. It is no coincidence that the heroic work of the doctors was equated with a military feat,” the activists said.

In conclusion, we note that on this day, thematic celebrations are held throughout Russia: various exhibitions, concerts, promotions and conversations. Students of schools, colleges and universities are told about the heroes of our Fatherland and shown patriotic films.
