An experiment on the use of nanocoatings to protect implants from encapsulation.

An experiment on implantation of plates with nanocoating, which has the properties of protection against infections and overgrowing with the surrounding epithelium, has been launched at the DGMU.
The research experiment is carried out in the laboratory of the Research Institute of Ecological Medicine by the student scientific circle of the Department of Normal Physiology.
The purpose of the experiment is to determine the degree of survival rate and suitability in the use of a coating applied to metal plates.
During the experiment it is planned to operate 10 rats for the control group and 10 for the experimental one.
The first work was carried out on January 19, 2019.
The experiment was conducted by three students (2.4 and 5 courses of the therapy faculty of the Dagestan State Medical University) under the supervision of Atayev Magomedrasul Gadzhievich, head of the department of environmental epidemiology of the Research Institute of Environmental Medicine of the Dagestan State Medical University.
During the experiment, the rat was injected with thiopental sodium (0.2 ml) as an anesthetic. After 10 minutes, the rat was operated on — a plate was sewn into the subcutaneous area (analogous to the element that the chip consists of), which does not have a special coating, from AISI Stainless Steel 304 (The American Iron and Steel Institute). The plate was fixed with a polished side to the muscles. For follow-up, the rat was taken to the laboratory.
A repeated experiment was conducted on January 22, 2019.
Ether was used for anesthesia and 0.15 ml of Propofol was injected. This method did not cause any complications, and, based on the experience of previous operations, the students came to the conclusion that the ether is the best option for further research manipulations.
The rat was implanted with a steel plate from Stainless Steel 304, which does not have a special coating, as it did last time. At the end of the experiment, the rat was delivered to the laboratory in good condition for further observations.
On January 29, 2019, the first experiment was conducted for an experimental research group. The team of the circle in the same composition (three people) installed the first steel plate with nano-coating. For anesthesia, ether and Propofol 0.15 ml were used. The experiment was completed successfully, the rat was delivered to the laboratory in good condition.
At the moment, all operated rats are under observation. Swelling, redness, purulent discharge and unpleasant odor are not observed yet, the wounds heal and, possibly, in 7-10 days it will be possible to remove the sutures. We expect positive results. The experiment continues!
