Meeting with Ratish Nair, Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Trivandrum was held at DSMU

On Friday, 13 September, a meeting with the Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Trivandrum Ratish Nair took place in the administrative building of Dagestan State Medical University. The meeting was attended by the Rector of DSMU Visampasha Khanaliev, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Dagestan State Medical University Yakhya Buchaev, Vice-Rectors of DSMU Abdulkamal Huseynov and Sirajitin Mutuev, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Gadzhimurad Dalgatov, university staff and students from India.

The meeting was opened by V. Khanaliev, who welcomed the guest to the university: ‘We are very pleased with your visit and admire your activities to strengthen friendly relations between Russia and India.

The project ‘Voyage@555’ dedicated to the 555th anniversary of Afanasy Nikitin’s voyage to India is a vivid example of how historical ties between our countries continue to revive and develop in the modern world.

I am confident that your visit will be a significant event in the history of our university and will serve to further strengthen scientific, educational and cultural ties between Russia and India.

I wish you a pleasant stay in Makhachkala and interesting meetings with our students, teachers and researchers,’ he said.

The Rector noted that the University has more than 200 students from different countries of the world, including India, and spoke about the history and development of the Dagestan State Medical University.

Rathish Nair, in turn, thanked the DSMU leadership for the warm meeting and noted that one of the goals of his visit was to establish relations between the southernmost university of the Russian Federation – DSMU and the university from Kerala. ‘The contacts we will exchange will further promote co-operation between these universities, exchange of students, discussion of further prospects of development in the field of education in the faculties of DSMU,’ R. Nair said.

В. Khanaliev assured him that the proposal will be considered and brought to the attention of the founder of the university – the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

Then the rector and the guest talked to the students from India, who expressed their gratitude to the university administration for the created conditions of education and accommodation, support and understanding on the part of teachers, staff of the dean’s office and international department.
