16 September was a special day for Russian and foreign first-year students of Bashkir State Medical University – on this day yesterday’s applicants were initiated into medical students. This is an important stage for BSMU students: six next years hundreds of first-year students will spend in the University walls, will actively study, prepare and pass credits and exams, conduct scientific research, undergo practical training in hospitals of Ufa and districts of the republic, and also develop in creativity, taking part in cultural life of Bashkir State Medical University.

Rector of BSMU, academician of RAS, Doctor of medical sciences, professor Valentin Nikolaevich Pavlov and guests of the University, who came to the event within the framework of official visit, – Rector of Dagestan State Medical University, professor Visampasha Yusupovich Khanaliev, vice-rector for public relations and social and educational work of BSMU Renat Badrudinovich Kurbanismailov came to congratulate the students.

‘Today the happiest stage of life has begun for each of you. You have become students of one of the best regional universities in Russia. Bashkir Medical University ranks fourth in the rating of medical universities in our country, and 28th among all Russian universities.

The main person at the university is the student. We all work for you to become the best doctors, to be competitive in the global medical space, to learn how to study so that you can work with the equipment and drugs that have not been invented yet. All of you should be established as individuals and live a happy professional and personal life. The University will do absolutely everything for this – we have a unique teaching staff, our diploma is recognised in more than 120 countries of the world. Rector of BSMU also told the first-year students that the University develops educational and scientific relations with medical universities of the world, in particular, all students of Bashkir State Medical University have an opportunity to undergo internship in universities of China, India and UAE. Valentin Nikolayevich invited the first-year students to visit the University’s scientific laboratories, spoke about the work of the Institute of Urology and Clinical Oncology, the Institute of Fundamental Medicine, and the IQ-Park of the Interuniversity Student Campus.

Dear freshmen, you have chosen an important profession – the profession of a doctor. You will be taught by one of the best teams of professors and teachers in the country. Your university has everything you need to gain knowledge and practical skills: laboratories, equipment, a large clinical base. All you have to do is to learn and obey your teachers.
