Since 2026, applicants from visa-free countries can submit documents for admission using the ruID mobile app from the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media. The app was developed to simplify interactions between foreign citizens and Russian educational institutions and government education services.

With the help of a mobile application, foreign applicants can:

  • submit documents for admission to any Russian university;
  • track the status of your application in real time;
  • receive notifications and up-to-date information on the progress of the admissions campaign;
  • interact with educational organizations through digital services.

 Invitations to enter the Russian Federation are issued only to applicants recommended for admission by the Admissions Committee. After receiving an invitation from the university, you must contact the Russian Embassy or Consulate in your home country to obtain an entry student visa.

Upon entering the Russian Federation, you are required to obtain and complete a migration card form confirming your right to temporary residence in the country. Foreign citizens entering the Russian Federation are subject to mandatory state fingerprinting, photographing, and medical examination. Foreign citizens arriving in the Russian Federation for a period of more than 90 days for study purposes (students) must complete the above procedures within 30 calendar days of entry. All foreign citizens arriving in the Russian Federation for study must obtain a medical insurance policy.

Foreign citizens must notify in advance of the date and time of arrival in the Russian Federation, and upon arrival, within the first working day, report to the International department of the University with the following documents:

  • national passport (if you have dual citizenship or a residence permit in another country, please provide all documents);
