The head of the department is Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Makhachev Osman Abdulmalikovich.

Makhachev O. A. graduated with honors from Dagestan State Medical Institute in 1975 (diploma series “U” No. 749139). Then, for a number of years, he improved his professional skills. As a result, by the decision of the Council at A. N. Bakulev Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences dated 30.03.1984 (Protocol No. 3) Makhachev O. A. was awarded the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences (MD diploma No. 019630) – PhD thesis “Clinic and diagnosis of hypoplasia of the right ventricle and associated congenital heart defects”.

By the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission No. 16d/9, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences (diploma of DC No. 021395) – doctoral dissertation “Double ventricle of the heart (left, right and only): a new approach to systematics, diagnosis of variants of the defect and the results of corrective operations” in 2004.

2013. A. Makhachev was working at the A. N. Bakulev Scientific Center for Cardiovascular Surgery of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences in the period from 1982 to 2013. He was a professor at the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery No. 2 of the I. M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.
2014. A. Makhachev, a highly qualified doctor and scientist, has made a significant contribution to the development and introduction into clinical practice of modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of complex congenital heart defects. He is the author and co-author of 720 scientific papers and intellectual property objects, including 9 monographs, chapters and sections in 10 monographs, 9 textbooks for doctors, 20 patents of the Russian Federation for inventions, 4 computer programs registered with the US Patent Office. He was elected a member of the Russian Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons (2000), a member of the European Association of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons (2003), a member of the American Society of Thoracic Surgeons (2010), a member of the editorial board of the Bulletin of A. N. Bakulev National Research Center of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences “Cardiovascular Diseases” (2009).

He was awarded the All-Russian Prize of Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences V. I. Burakovsky “For fundamental research on the problem of congenital heart defects that contributed to the progress of cardiovascular surgery”. By the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of 24.04.2006 Makhachev O. A. was awarded the honorary title “Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation” (certificate “Z” No. 176124).

During the period of his work, for the first time in Dagestan, stress echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, transesophageal stimulation were used for the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. The following high-tech surgical operations were performed: stenting of coronary arteries; radiofrequency ablation of arrhythmogenic zones of the heart; stenting of the carotid artery; endovascular closure of congenital heart defects using an occluder in children and adults, intraoperative shuntography was performed to assess the quality of the imposed shunts. The number of operations has increased.

 Shakhnavazov Akhmedkhan Shakhnavazovich – assistant of the department.

After graduating from the State Medical Institute in 1977, he worked in  Komi, Perm Region until 1984 as a surgeon and concurrently as an anesthesiologist- resuscitator.

He has been working at the Republican Clinical Hospital as an anesthesiologist – resuscitator  since 1985. He was appointed senior resident of the intensive care unit of the Maternity Hospital No. 3 at Republican Clinical Hospital in 1987, where he worked until 1990.

He was appointed head of the Department of Anesthesiology of the Republican Clinical Hospital in 1990.

In connection with the opening of the Department of anesthesiology – resuscitation of the cardiac surgery center of Republican Clinical Hospital , he was transferred to the position of head of this department in 1995.

He has been the head of the Intensive Care Unit of Dagestan Center for Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery since 2008.

He underwent an improvement in Moscow on the cycle “Intensive therapy and anesthesiology in obstetrics” on the basis of the Moscow Dental Institute named after Semashko in 1987. He specialized in anesthesiology-resuscitation at  A.N. Bakulev Scientific Center for Cardiovascular Surgery of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences under the guidance of Professor T.M. Darbinyan in 1992 and 1993.

Abasov Fuzuli Khanakhmedovich – assistant of the department.

He graduated from Rostov State Medical University, Faculty of Military Training, specialty medicine in 2009.

In 2011, he completed his residency in anesthesiology and resuscitation at the Department of FAT and  faculty of advanced training and professional retraining of specialists of  Rostov State Medical University.

He completed his residency in the specialty X-ray endovascular methods of diagnosis and treatment on the basis of the A.N. Bakulev National Research Center of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences in the period from 2012 to 2014.

He has been the head of the Department of Invasive Radiocardioangiology since 2016.

Since 2016, Head of the Department of Invasive Radiocardioangiology.

He is deputy director for the medical part of State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Dagestan “Scientific and Clinical Association “Dagestan Center of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery” since 2018. Member of the Russian Society of X-ray Endovascular Surgeons.

Gadzhiev Nasrulla Magomedovich – assistant of the department.

He graduated from the medical faculty of RSMU Moscow in 2009.

He passed clinical residency at the Department of Cardiology of  Moscow State Medical University named after A. I. Evdokimov (on the basis of the O. M. Filatov State Clinical Hospital No. 15)  from 2009 to 2011.  He began his career in 2011 as a cardiologist of the mobile neuro-intensive care team at N. N. Burdenko clinic.

He has worked as a cardiologist at state polyclinic No. 120 in Moscow. Concurrently, he worked as a cardiologist at state clinical hospital No. 20  from 2012.

He has worked as a district cardiologist of  North-Eastern Administrative District of Moscow from 2013.

From 2014 to the present, he has been working as the head of the cardiology department of Dagestan Center of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery. He completed qualification courses in cardiology at the Department of the Filatov Moscow State Medical University. Member of the European and Russian Society of Cardiology in 2016 .

Dibirova Madina Nabievna – assistant of the department.

Graduated with honors from the medical Faculty of the State Medical Academy in 2004.She completed a clinical residency in the specialty therapy on the basis of ROSMA in Makhachkala from 2004 to 2006. She was working as a doctor of the mobile brigade of the First Aid Department from 2006 to 2012.

She worked as a cardiologist at Municipal polyclinic No. 3 in Makhachkala from 2012 to 2013.

She has been working as a cardiologist at the clinical diagnostic department of   ” Dagestan Center of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery” since February 2013.

She has been working as the head of the clinical and diagnostic department-2 from October 2015.

She specialized in “Functional diagnostics” in 2015. She completed advanced training in the specialty “cardiology” at National Medical Research Center named after  Almazov  in St. Petersburg and  specialized in the program “Health organization and public health” in February 2019. She is a member of the European and Russian Society of Cardiology.

Shikhmagomedov Osman Omarovich  – assistant of the department.

He graduated with honors from the medical faculty of the DSMA in 2015.

From 2015 to 2017, he completed a clinical residency in the specialty of cardiovascular surgery on the basis of Bakulev National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg.

From 2017 to the present, he has been working as a cardiovascular surgeon at DCC and CS.

He passed advanced training on the topic “Modern trends in cardiovascular surgery” at the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution named after A.N.Bakulev of the Ministry of Health in Moscow in 2018.

Omarova Khadizhat Magomedovna – senior laboratory assistant of the department. In 2016, she graduated with honors from the medical faculty of DSMU.

She completed her residency in cardiology on the basis of “DCC and CS” from 2016 to 2018. She has been working as a cardiologist at the clinical diagnostic department-2 “DCC and CS” since 2018. She is a member of the European and Russian Society of Cardiology.

Gadzhieva Zaira Izmudinovna – laboratory assistant of the department.She graduated with honors from the medical and preventive faculty of  DSMA in 2015.

2015-2016 – internship in the specialty therapy at the Department of Hospital Therapy of No.1 DSMA.

She completed her residency in cardiology at  Almazov National Research Medical Center in St. Petersburg from 2016 to 2018.

From February 2019 to the present, she has been working as a cardiologist at the clinical diagnostic department-2 “DCC and CS”.

Dagestan Center of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery

A significant event in the healthcare of the republic was the opening of the Republican Center of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery in Makhachkala at the end of 2008.

Thanks to the opening of the center, patients with various diseases of the cardiovascular system living in Dagestan have gained the opportunity to receive qualified, high-tech medical care without leaving the republic. The center is designed for 125 beds, the medical staff is 337 people.

Dagestan Center of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery is the clinical base of the Department of Cardiology and Cardiovascular, Cardiovascular and X-ray endovascular Surgery of  FAT and RS of DSMU, Hospital Surgery No. 1 of DSMU. Director of the center, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation and laureate of the Academician V.I. Burakovsky Prize, chief freelance specialist – cardiovascular surgeon of the NCFD, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Osman Abdulmalikovich Makhachev.

For the introduction of high-tech X-ray endovascular methods in the treatment of heart and vascular diseases in Dagestan in 2017, 5 people from DDC and CS ,  among which 2 are also employees of the department were awarded Dagestan  State Prize.

Research work of staff and residents:

The Department of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery of the FAT and the PRS pays great attention to science. Dagestan Center of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery, being a scientific and clinical association, provides an opportunity for residents, applicants and young scientists of DSMU to engage in research activities.

For the most active are provided:

– The opportunity to participate in the student section of the annual session of the Federal State Budgetary Institution ” Bakulev National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery named after A.N. Bakulev” of the Ministry of Health of Russia with the All-Russian Conference of Young Scientists.

– Attending cardiac surgeries.

The staff of the department are actively engaged in scientific activities, take part in conferences of both regional and Russian scale.

 The staff of the department published 23 scientific papers, including 1 monograph – Parameters of the normal heart in 2018.(Normative parameters of the heart and its structures).

At the XXIII annual session of the Bakulev Research and Development Center in 2019, our staff presented several reports, in particular:

A report  “The results of the application of the method of endovenous laser ablation in eliminating horizontal reflux in the perforating veins” was presented  by Shikhmagomedov O (Gamzatov, T. H., Makhachev, O. A., Shikhmagomedov O.)

Abasov F. H. presented a paper on “The experience of endovascular diagnostics and treatment of recurrence of varicocele” ( Makhachev O. A. Abasov, F. H., Shelesko A. A., Mamaev A. A., M. H. Hadzhilaev, the Osmanov O. A., Abdullaev Y. I., Abdusalamova Z. G.)

Dibirova M.N. reported on the topic: “The results of the use of shock wave therapy of the heart in the complex treatment of patients with angina pectoris” (Makhachev O.A., Gadzhiev N.M., Dibirova M.N., Abdusalamova Z.G.) and “Anticoagulant therapy for atrial fibrillation: the experience of the Dagestan Center of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery and new recommendations” (Makhachev O.A., Dibirova M.N., Sultanov M.G., Gadzhiev N.M.).

The Department of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery of the FPC and the Faculty also takes an active part in the training of future specialists in the specialty “cardiology”.

48 residents and cadets have been trained at the department since 2018.

14 residents of 1 year of study, 11 cadets for primary retraining in the specialty “cardiology” were trained for 2018-2019 academic years.

Together with the Department of Public Health and Healthcare of FAT and PRS, the following textbook was published: “Analysis of the activities of medical organizations and the quality of medical care” in 2019.
