The modern features of the development of our country include its gradual transformation into a modern state governed by the rule of law. The implementation of state control (supervision) over compliance with the legal principles and norms provided for by Russian legislation, the detection and suppression of violations in the field of sanitation, hygiene and epidemiology refers to the activities of the Federal Service for Supervision in the Field of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being.

It is the graduates of the medical and preventive faculty who are ready to work in these institutions. That is why our university opened the Faculty of Medicine and Prevention in 1999. About thirteen graduates were held and more than 350 doctors of specialists in medical and preventive medicine were trained. A man of unique discipline and organization, Associate professor, Ph.D.  Ramazanov  R. G. was one of the founders and the first Dean of the faculty of preventive medicine since the founding of the faculty. Graduate of the Sanitary and Hygienic Faculty of the Leningrad Sanitary and Hygienic Medical Institute, Professor Magomedov has been the Dean since 2008.Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Akhmedkhanov S. Sh. was the dean of the Faculty from 2016 to 2017.

Currently, the Dean’s office of the Faculty of Medicine and Prevention is headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Aminat  Isagayevna Aliyeva. The main task of the faculty is to train personnel who meet the requirements of the sanitary and epidemiological service of the country in the conditions of a modern dynamically changing and developing society. Students of the Faculty of the first three courses study mainly humanities, socio-economic, natural sciences and biomedical disciplines and in the senior courses-clinical and professional medical and preventive disciplines, general hygiene, epidemiology, food hygiene, occupational hygiene, child and adolescent hygiene, municipal hygiene, radiation and military hygiene, public health and healthcare.

The high level of teaching basic medical Sciences, the close connection between the relevant departments of medical-preventive faculty with practical bodies and organizations of  Rospotrebnadzor allow to train highly qualified and in-demand specialists. But the acquisition of deep and solid knowledge, confident skills is impossible without the constant and hard work of the students themselves.

Many of our students, paying due attention to their academic work, demonstrate a high level of knowledge and necessary skills at intermediate and final certification, which allow them to maintain a high level of demand by the practical bodies of Rospotrebnadzor of the Russian Federation in fairly tough competitive conditions. The main bases of improvement of knowledge and skills of students of the faculty of professional disciplines are: Department of Rospotrebnadzor in Republic of Dagestan; “Federal Center of hygiene and epidemiology in the Republic of Dagestan .The term of study at the faculty is 6 years.”

Upon completion of training in the field of training (specialty) Medical preventive care, along with the qualification (degree) of “specialist” was awarded the special title of “doctor.”

Graduates of the Faculty of Medicine and Prevention have the right to work in the departments of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being and federal budgetary health institutions “Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology” , as well as in medical organizations, research institutes, laboratories, enterprises of various sectors of the economy as doctors in the following specialties: general hygiene, epidemiology, food hygiene, municipal hygiene, radiation hygiene, occupational hygiene, hygiene of children and adolescents, organization of sanitary and epidemiological services, virology, bacteriology, disinfection, sanitary and hygienic laboratory tests, hygienic education. In addition, graduates of the faculty can work with our epidemiologists, hygienists, parasitologists, bacteriologists, virologists in institutions of the Russian Ministry of health, hospitals, research institutions, sanitary and epidemiological profiles, as well as in centres of medical prevention in the intervention departments of clinics and hospitals.

The list of postgraduate training areas for graduates of the Faculty of Medicine and Prevention has been expanded in accordance with Order No. 553 of August 20, 2007 of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation, Nowadays they have the opportunity to receive specialization in hospital epidemiology and clinical laboratory diagnostics, followed by depth training in bacteriology, virology, laboratory mycology and laboratory genetics. Today graduates of the Faculty of Medicine and Prevention work in various positions in the republics of the North Caucasus, in Moscow, in St. Petersburg and in other regions of the Russian Federation.
