About the faculty

Since the opening of the faculty, more than 20 graduates of pharmacists with higher pharmaceutical education have been held, who can work in the institutions of the pharmacy network, research institutes, and pharmaceutical enterprises. From 1 to 3 courses, students study humanities and socio-economic, natural science, mathematical and biomedical disciplines (philosophy, bioethics, pedagogy, psychology, history of pharmacy, biophysics, mathematics and computer science, chemical disciplines, physiology with anatomy, biology and microbiology, etc.).

Professional disciplines are studied in the senior courses  (pharmaceutical and toxicological chemistry, pharmaceutical technology and biotechnology, clinical pharmacology and pharmacognosy ). The greatest attention is paid to the study of management and economics of pharmacy, medical and pharmaceutical commodity science and other disciplines that contribute to the training of specialists who meet the modern requirements of the pharmaceutical market.

Educational and industrial practice is carried out jointly with pharmaceutical institutions and organizations, where students gain skills in organizing pharmaceutical business.

Many graduates of the faculty work in pharmacies in Moscow and other regions of Russia.

The dean of the faculty from the day of its opening until 2008 was the head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacy, Chief Clinical Pharmacologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Dagestan, Honored Doctor of the Republic of Dagestan, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate professor Tinav Magomedovich Abdurakhmanov.

Associate professor of the Department of Skin Diseases Magomedova Aminat Magomedovna  was the  dean of the faculty was and from 2008 to 2014.

Nowadays the dean is Associate professor of the Department of General and Biological Chemistry Gazimagomedova Madina Magomedovna.

History

The Faculty of Pharmacy was established in 1999. Much credit for this belongs to the rector, Professor A. O. Osmanov, who made a great contribution to the development of science, in practical health care. To date, the faculty has 115 students on budget and extra-budgetary forms of education. A large educational and pedagogical potential is involved in the training of pharmacists. Teaching at the Faculty of Pharmacy is carried out by employees of Dagestan State Medical University who have academic degrees of doctors and candidates of sciences. The qualitative characteristics of the teaching staff of Dagestan State Medical University allow us to assess the potential of each educational name in the DSMU quite highly.

Specialty

33.05.01 «Pharmacy»

The organization of the educational process at the Faculty of Pharmacy is carried out in accordance with DSMU charter, the current regulatory documents, the regulations on the faculty, and the professional educational program. The training of students is determined by the state educational standards of higher education (FSES HE).

The duration of full-time training  is 5 years with a total labor intensity of 300 credits. The curriculum of the State Educational Standard fully reflects the component of the state educational standard and  also supplemented by a regional component, includes courses of students ‘ choice and fully corresponds to the standard of the State educational standard in terms of the total number of hours.

The curriculum includes a list of mandatory and additional literature. The library of the Academy has a sufficient amount of literature defined by the licensing requirements and meets the requirements of the degree of novelty. There are control tasks for intermediate and final control, exams and tests at the specialized departments of the Faculty of Pharmacy. The educational and laboratory base of the Faculty of Pharmacy allows o organize the educational process in accordance with the requirements of the state educational standard of higher education. All natural science disciplines are provided with laboratory workshops. Educational laboratories are equipped with laboratory furniture, microscopes, spectrophotometers, polarographs, photoelectrocollorimeters, refractometers and other sophisticated technological equipment. A large role is given to conducting training and production practices, for which a network of pharmacies is used: “MFS” and “Healer». Medical practice students pass on the basis of the Railway city hospital. The Mountain Botanical Garden of Dagestan Scientific Center of  Russian Academy of Sciences, the Caspian Institute of Biological Resources and the Botanical Garden of the Dagestan State University provide serious assistance in organizing practical training in botany and pharmacognosy, providing laboratories and production facilities free of charge.

The number of basic educational literature in the university by name and number of copies has been brought to the indicators that meet the requirements of the minimum standards for the provision of higher educational institutions.

 Library of Dagestan State Medical University has been a member of the consortium for the creation of the Russian Medicine database since 2006, which allows using the database of the central scientific medical library of federal medical universities. The library also has e-mail and computer educational programs. All departments of the Faculty of Pharmacy are equipped with computers. To work with information databases, Internet access points are provided for students and university staff. Laboratories have been created for such disciplines as physical and colloidal chemistry, analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical technology, and pharmacognosy in order to implement professional educational programs in the specialty “Pharmacy”. To date, the material and technical equipment of the educational process in the specialty 33.05.01 “Pharmacy” is sufficient and meets the license requirements.

A significant event for the faculty is the opening of the basic department of “Pharmacy” in 2016  on the basis of the decision of the Academic Council of DSMU dated 25.10.2015

There is a training pharmacy on the basis of the simulation and accreditation center of the university for passing the procedure of primary accreditation of specialists, which is necessary for the formation of skills and professional culture of specialists.  It is planned to open a control and analytical laboratory equipped with modern equipment.

Educational work is an integral part of the process of training specialists. Each department of the faculty conducts educational work with students through the educational process. Teachers conduct classes in such a way that simultaneously with the acquisition of knowledge students have a responsible attitude to future work and efficiency in solving practical problems.

 For extracurricular and educational work with students, the university’s classroom and sports facilities are used without restrictions. The organization of aesthetic education of students is of great importance. Many students of the Faculty of Pharmacy with great enthusiasm take part in the work of amateur clubs, in sports events. The best students are awarded diplomas, prizes and scholarships.

The development of the faculty’s educational activities is closely connected with the need to strengthen scientific, fundamental and exploratory research, both on industry issues of Health  Ministry of the Russian Federation and on regional programs. The structure that organizes the scientific activities of students is the scientific student circles where well-performing students are engaged.

The desire of students to show their creative abilities, as well as the serious approach of students to the choice of topics of scientific work, lead to noticeable success. The level and quality of knowledge of graduates of the Faculty of Pharmacy of DSMU, the organization of the educational process, methodological support, the formulation of educational work meet  all the requirements presented to students at the Faculty of Pharmacy.
