Academic affairs

The educational process is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the FSES 3+ and FSES3++ and is provided with educational and visual aids, technical training tools, including software products and computer equipment. The study rooms are equipped with the necessary equipment, laboratory utensils, nutrient media, reagents, equipped with microscopes and tables in supply.

There is a specialized laboratory equipped with reagents, nutrient mediums, microscopes, including a luminescent microscope for conducting laboratory classes with Postgraduate Faculty students.

The department integration with the scientific advisory laboratory “Clinical Microbiology and Virology” and the Scientific Research Institute “Nutrient Media” contributes to the educational process improvement.

The department staff cooperates with the RCID, RCH bacteriological laboratories, as well as with municipal laboratories.

The computer program “Microtestsystem for biochemical identification of bacteria”, which is used in the educational process, has been developed.

To conduct a full-fledged educational process in accordance with the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard, the department has teaching aids in the disciplines of “Microbiology, Virology” and “Immunology” for students of all faculties.

Also, students and students of  PGF courses are fully provided with a course of multimedia presentations of lectures on general and special microbiology and clinical immunology.

Science

The department staff conducts scientific research in two areas:

  • Intrauterine and urogenital infections microbiological diagnostics improvement (Associate Professors Saidov M.S., Tsarueva T.V., Assistans Akayeva F.S., Isaeva R.I., Kasumova A.M., Yusupova M.T.)
  • Hospital-acquired infections diagnosis improvement (Ph. D. Biology Omarova S.M., Associate Алиева А.И., Cand. Med. Sc. Mutalipova Z.M-K.)
  • The department staff has published more than 400 scientific papers, 15 monographs, more than 30 teaching aids for the course of their work.

  • Postgraduate student of the department:  Akhmedova R.S., Kabartieva Yu.A.

Resources

The department staff has revised and created educational and methodological materials for the methodological support of the educational process in microbiology, virology and immunology. In particular, electronic versions of lectures on general and special microbiology have been prepared. In 2018-2019, a lecture summary on general microbiology, virology and immunology was published, which summarizes the main key points of the lecture. Each topic is accompanied by a list of basic and additional literature recommended for students.

In general and special microbiology, virology and immunology, workbooks containing methodological guidelines for preparing for practical classes have been published. A Russian – English dictionary of microbiological terms has been compiled. The textbook “Test questions, situational tasks and answer standards for microbiologists, virologists and immunologists” was published (Makhachkala, 2012).

Due to the lack of a sufficient number of practical manuals on microbiology in the Academy library fund, the department staff prepared and published a “Practicum on Microbiology” (Makhachkala, 2014).

In 2000 the department opened “Courses of Clinical Bacteriology” for advanced training of bacteriologists, where have already trained more than 100 bacteriologists from various districts and cities of the RD and was a significant contribution of the Department to the infectious diseases bacteriological diagnosis improvement.
